Drugs That Cause Tinnitus

Question: I will be having extensive outpatient surgery, next week, which requires the use of a local anesthethic. I have looked for lists of tinnitus causing drugs which have listed carbocaine, the drug they will be using. They will also be using marcaine. Does anyone have any experience as to whether or not these drugs cause permanent or temporary tinnitus, and which local anesthetic might not cause any tinnitus? The surgery will take the entire day, and so necessitates many injections. I already suffer from tinnitus and hyperacusis and am trying to limit any more damage. Any information would be most appreciated

Answer: I found a good site on tinnitus by a search in google.com, just putting in the word *tinnitus*. There were tons of hits, but one of the top one listed was this site. And they give a list of *all* the drugs that are ototoxic. Perhaps they will have the ones you asked about.you can try this:www.tinnitus-audiology.com The drugs you mention might even help
