Question: What causes ringing in the ear?there was no damage done to my ear. I was just watching t.v and it started and won't stop.
Answer: It's called tinitus. It has a few causes such as excessivly loud, prolonged noise. Meniers disease or damage to the ear canal or drum. Even older age. There is nothing you can do to stop it. The more you try and block it out through cotton wool in your ear the more louder and annoying it will be.Try the distraction trick. Turn the TV or radio on. Or go to a shopping centre or park. It destracts the brain from constantly listening to this annoying sound. It may stop in a few hours or even as long as a few weeks. In Meneir's disease sufferers, such as myself, it never stops or goes quiet.I used a fan at night time to use for distraction to help sleep.
