Question: would be interested to hear from people suffering from pulsatile tinnitus and their experience. Despite a variety of tests nobody has been able to find a cause.
Answer: Bilateral Pulsitile tinnitus has been the primary mode of operation for my problem although I also have a less bothersome tonal tinnitus in both ears as well. It has been over a year since the sudden onset of the T , first in one ear and in about two weeks moved to the other ear as well. The upside is that my life has returned pretty much returned to normal after a few months of despair and extreme anxiety during the early months. The downside is that the T has increase in intensity with time and hopefully has leveled out at the current level. My audiologist in San Diego said that most of the professionals believe that pulsitile tinnitus is most certainly vascular in nature. I had tests to check for the "accepted causes" of pulsitile tinnitus and came away clear on the results....so that's where it stands today. The site of the tonal part of my T has been diagnoses as cochlear in origin. My hearing is ok except for moderate loss of hearing in the high frequencies (not unheard of for someone 65 years old.)
