Xanax Tinnitus

Question: I have a loud 'central' high pitch tinnitus since a 'doctor' gave me a neck treatment.

Not one method helped until now. Recently I saw a homepage on which I read that Xanax was supposed to help in many cases. But: it is highly addictive.

Who can tell me whether I can trust this? Who has tried? Success? Please give information. I am having a bad time with this tinnitus.

Answer: I've been taking Xanax for the past 12-13 years -- 2 0.5 mg tablets per day. I have found it VER-R-R-Y helpful for severe tinnitus. I'm not aware of an 'addiction' problem with it but there is definitely a dependency on it.

The only time I got myself in trouble with it was after reading Dr. Jastreboff's quotes indicating that he felt Xanax made tinnitus worse. When I tried to reduce dosage, I encountered the worst tinnitus I've ever known -- extreme problems especially with sleep -- It took about three months to re-establish therapudic dosage of Xanax.
